Aromatherapy Essential Oils

Aromatherapy creation at JOGB

The power of aroma on our senses knows no bounds. Inextricably linked to our memories and emotions, the smell of anything, from a flower to a lover, has the ability to make us feel happy or broken in a heartbeat. It really is the most acute therapy. Simply find the essential oils that personally bring YOU energy, joy, happiness, and relaxation, and you have the recipe for a more contented life. Your nose; your memories: your choice.

An unscented life, void of nature’s botanical scents, would be the saddest place to be. Instead, you can enjoy everything nature has to offer, and how ‘scent-sational’ it can make you feel, by using essential oils to lift you when you’re down, relax you when you’re stressed, or bold and alluring when you need it most.

That’s why we’re here! To lift you up, bring you joy, enhance your mood, and make life better. Come find our aromas and above all, enjoy.

Why choose aromatherapy?

Aroma as a therapy makes us feel good, fast. The plant essential oils used in aromatherapy can be used anywhere: at home, at work, while travelling or relaxing, for energising, for stress relief, and for healing. Inhaling an aroma directly connects to the sensory part of the brain that registers memory and emotion. The more you use favourite plant aromas and become more familiar with them, the more you will start to improve the way you feel in your daily life. Here’s why:

  • Aromatherapy is the therapeutic practice of using aromatic plant essential oils to improve the health of your mind, body, and spirit. Pure plant essential oils are extracts taken from the flower, leaf, root and bark of specific plants: they are considered by many to be the vibrational heartbeat of a living plant. The therapeutic benefit of each natural scent, many of which we grow up with in nature throughout our lives, are powerful in reducing stress and anxiety; 90% of stress causes most illness today.

  • Scent has a direct pathway to the unique emotional memory centre of our brain. It’s a trigger. In a flash we can remember a moment, a scene, a person, a piece of music, and by association our feelings resonate: good or bad. Like photography for the mind, it’s magic. Aromatherapy is called ‘teleportation for the senses’. Imagine the power of that aroma when it is created purely from nature, not a lab? The volatile, aromatic component of a plant - its ‘essential’ oil - carries its unique scent and ethereal soul. It is through these precious fragrances that plants are able to communicate and vibrate with their environment, and with us. This potent energy and vibration is magnified during extraction, giving essential oils the power to influence our moods, enhance our physical and emotional wellbeing, and even open the pathway to our intuitive sixth sense. All in a single drop of the right oil, or blend… that works for you.

It is this magical power over the senses that first inspired Jo to create her exclusive JOGB aromatherapy mood enhancing essential oil blends: MOJO, GOJO and SLOJO. The therapeutic purity of each oil is essential: the same blend is found in our Mood Drops, Crystal Roller Ball Moments, and Candles. The oils are clean, perfectly distilled, nature driven, sustainable, vegan, and free from all animal testing at all times.

  • Aromatherapy is grounded in ancient practices, traditions and beliefs. The soul ‘thinks’ through imagery and the associations that come with that. This enables aroma, as a therapy, to create a gateway into our subconscious. This modern understanding of plants and their impact on the psyche now enables us to be our own creative alchemist at home, helping us to navigate the stresses and strains every day in our own lives and in our surroundings.

How to use essential oils

There are so many ways to use pure essential oils in everyday living. Think how good you feel when fresh flowers or herbs are displayed in your home and fill the air with their scent. It is this beautiful energy that you are harnessing when you introduce more aromatherapy into your home and your daily life. Try to incorporate your favourite aromas listed below, our JOGB exclusive blends (made uniquely for us and no-one else). Enjoy the benefits of essential oils in your daily life. Here’s how:

  • Spray:  Add up to 10 drops to a small spray bottle filled with distilled water and spritz in the air, over carpets, furniture and linens to refresh a room, and mask unpleasant aromas. You can also use this recipe to make your own pillow mist, room spray, mood buster, or natural mosquito repellent.

Massage: Dilute 5 drops of MOJO Mood Drops blend oil with 10ml of sweet almond base oil (as found in JOGB Moments Aromatherapy Crystal Roller Balls) and gently massage into skin. Other oils to enjoy all over the body include jojoba, hazelnut and coconut fractionated oil (best for less slippery bathing).

Bathe: Run a warm bath and add 4 to 6 drops of SLOJO Mood Drops diluted in 10ml of fractionated coconut oil. Stir the water to mix the blend, then relax in the water for at least 20 minutes to allow the aroma therapeutic benefit.

Diffuse: Put 8 to 10 drops into an electric diffuser, over a bowl of hot water, decorative crystals, or our JOGB lava stones, and use to aromatize your environment. Use the aroma to diffuse the air and help practice more restful, mindful, breathwork. Equally, invest in high quality aromatherapy candles. Avoid paraffin wax in a closed environment as this emits fumes which may lead to neuralgic pain and headaches for some individuals; it also destroys the aroma therapy experience.

Inhale: Breathe in a pure essential oil directly from the bottle, or by sprinkling a couple of drops on to a tissue and use to gently inhale. For example: a couple of drops of rosemary essential oil, on a tissue and placed inside a T-shirt or bra, can be inhaled for several hours and help boost memory, focus and restore energy levels when you’ve got a deadline.
