In case you don’t know Emma Hardie Skincare, Emma first created the collection while battling a health condition - Epstein Barr Virus - linked to many long term autoimmune issues. From there began her own journey into the botanical world, discovering new antioxidants for a better life (not just skincare) and creating a whole new lifestyle for herself. Great British businesses start from the heart - it has to be about passion, and learning from the way our lives evolve… so that hopefully along the way one can create something that can help others in their lives - emotionally or physically.

Jo loves Emma Hardie Skincare because they are 100% cruelty-free, created with integrity, made in GB too, and power-packed with super high-grade, skin-friendly botanical ingredients harvested from nature. The range features the amazing super-antioxidant Moringa Seed extract, now known for being an amazing youth defying supplement to skincare (and internally too) - JO doesn’t write or speak ‘anti-ageing’ as it’s so negative a connotation - ageing is wonderful. that contains 7x more vitamin C than an orange, 3x more potassium than a banana, 4x more calcium than milk & 4x more vitamin A than a carrot - making it an amazing super skin ally for all ages. 🌱

Jo’s top skincare tips with Emma Hardie Skincare?

  1. I love cleansing with a skincare balm - especially after the age of 40 and post-menopause when skin becomes increasing sluggish and lacklustre. Mine’s especially dry so a balm is amazing, and as they are great for use during a facial massage, you can really help to stimulate blood circulation to help rev up cell renewal which declines significantly after the age of 30. Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm is an oil-based cleanser for face and makeup too, even waterproof mascara. It deep cleanses, refining the pores but also conditions the skin so it’s not left feeling taut. Massage the face using small circular movements, allowing the balm to absorb into the skin, then remove any residue using an exfoliating microfibre facecloth such as EH Dual Action Microfibre Cloth.

  2. Microfibre face cloths are lightly abrasive and stimulate the skin, acting as a vacuum to the pores, helping to draw out dirt and impurities when used daily. You can even use these cloths dry, like body brushing for the face -only way gentler. Past 35/40 you really need to stimulate your skin to get the microcirculation going.

  3. If your skin is prone to blemishes or acne, choose vitamin C in your skincare, as it helps calm inflammation, reduce the likelihood of scarring and is skin brightening too. Do check out Emma Hardie’s Vit C range. TIP: never overstimulate oily skin as this can encourage skin to become more oily not less as a reaction. Try lightweight hydrating skincare instead and avoid foaming cleansers.

  4. Skin sensitivity can become worse with age but is exacerbated at any stage by environmental pollution, sun, diet, dehydration and using the wrong skincare. Do try the less is more approach - don’t overstimulate if your skin is prone to flushing (rosacea is increasingly an issue after 40), avoid harsh cleansers (sulphates are a no-go for sensitive prone skin), reduce exfoliation to once a week and do it gently (chemical v manual) choose antioxidant skincare (which naturally protects skin), plus drink your 2-3 litres of water a day internally too, and eat a diet full of water vegetables such as cucumber, courgettes, and celery etc.
